Laser Assisted Perio Therapy
Laser Assisted Perio Therapy (LAPT) is an exceptional method for reducing deep pockets. Rather than more invasive therapy, such as pocket reduction surgery involving scalpels and cutting the gums back, we can use a laser to eliminate disease causing bacteria from the pocket between the gum and tooth. Most patients experience little to no recovery time. The laser tip actually attracts the pigment in the diseased tissue so we can remove only the unhealthy tissue, leaving the healthy tissue untouched. In the hands of our skilled hygienists, the laser is a powerful tool to promote gum healing, pocket reduction, and overall health.

Dr. Abbas Tejani graduated from the University of Bristol in 1984 and worked in general practice in England for 6 years before qualifying in Canada in the 90th percentile before moving to Vancouver in 1999. He has always continued to strive for excellence and to expand his scope and skills in dentistry from starting off as a “tooth” dentist, growing to provide treatment as a whole mouth dentist and now evolving to provide dentistry in the context of the whole body.
Dr. Tejani has studied with leading members of his profession in the field of cosmetics, temporomandiubular joint dysfunction (TMJD) and occlusion, full mouth reconstruction, implants and orthodontics, from England, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, the USA and Canada and continues to build upon his skills taking numerous post graduate educational courses every year.
He has practices in Vancouver and London, England where he works to bring his expertise, enthusiasm, and skills together for the benefit of his patients. He has a very carting and gentle manner and is committed to a holistic approach, placing an emphasis on your overall health.
Dr. Tejani loves to swim, ski and hike – he has trekked to Everest and to the India Himalayan. He loves the theatre, reading and eating at great restaurants.

Dr. Omar Kassam graduated from the University of London in 1977 and has been in practice ever since. In 1987 he was a Clinical Instructor for final year students in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University Of British Columbia. In 1998 Dr. Kassam became a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and by 2008 he attained his Master Degree in laser dentistry and became a recognized course provider in same.
Dr. Kassam lectures internationally on laser dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and practice management. He got a new lease on his passion for dentistry as a result of pursuing cosmetic dentistry as of 1986.
Dr. Kassam believes that beauty is in the eyes of the owner and he pursues providing beautiful cosmetic dentistry with that view in mind.

Additional Information
Typically a general cleaning will last around 60 minutes while one of our qualified hygienists gently cleans the surfaces of your teeth. The process rids your teeth of any built up tartar, plaque, and stains by using an ultrasonic water scaler and various manual scalers. The hygienist will then carefully examine your mouth for any existing or potential problems such as decay or periodontal disease.
