Bite therapy is an integral part of cranio-facial dentistry involving treating your bite so that the teeth, jaw joints, and muscles work in harmony. This leads to decreased stress in your chewing system and can eliminate your jaw/muscle pain and your head and neck aches. The teeth wear less, have far less breakages, and restorations last longer.
At Kerrisdale Dental Centre, we have a specific, detailed protocol to address any bite issues you may have.
FAQ
How long does the treatment take?
Your treatment is based on a thorough examination and diagnosis. Depending on the extent and nature of the breakdown in your chewing system the treatment can take 6 weeks to 6 months
Are there multiple appointments?
Typically, we will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth during which molds of your teeth will be taken and analyzed on a jaw simulator. We use computerized equipment to analyze your jaw joints and jaw function.
From this we will determine the optimum position of your jaw for your body and then construct a blueprint of your teeth in this position. The blueprint will be placed on your teeth in a tooth colored material for you to test drive tis position and ensure it is comfortable and exactly right for you.
Once this has been established we will prepare your teeth and complete the process of restoring your bite in approximately 6 visits.
